Doonbeg Golf Club

Up early, checked out of hotel, drove to Doonbeg for our 8:48 tee time. Could not find anything or anywhere open on the way for breakfast, seems like they all sleep very late here!! Had to eat at the golf course resort in the end, it was a nice continental breakfast, but as it is a Trump Course we were not really very keen to give him our $$

We hit off, seemingly the only ones out there, all the American visitors were still eating and talking about their Florida holiday homes πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰
The course was right on the coast and was again amazing, it was links but felt more resort than Irish style.

We started off with cloud cover but yet again the sun came out and the jumpers came off, it was slightly windy being on the coast but very pleasant.

Greg Norman designed course so lots of deep bunkers

Very beautiful scenery

9 holes out and 9 holes back, some really well designed holes. Really enjoyed it

Very tight match, all square after 17 but Sean won the 18th with a nice par so Julie & Sean beat Jane & Brian 1 up. Good match, always within 2 shots.
Sean won the individual with 33 points.

We didn’t want to spend any more money there so headed off towards our house in Killarney- 4 nights in the one place.
Stopped for a nice lunch on the way then drove to the car ferry at Killimer, 20 min trip to Tarbert, very efficient

Took about 2 hours all up. Arrived and unpacked, we are right in town so went to supermarket for supplies, had showers and a nice drink

Priorities 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍾🍾🍾🍾
Killarney is a massive tourist area, our house is a 100 m walk from the Main Street so we are lucky not to have to fight the traffic and parking.

Walked in and found a lovely place for dinner, very good food again.... apart from a boring chicken wrap that Julie ordered one day we have had wonderful meals.
Big day today, walked 15.7km, 23,748 steps and 19 flights climbed. The ice cream after dinner doesn’t feel so naughty now πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
Off to bed, tomorrow we are playing Ballybunion Golf Course and it is also our 15th wedding anniversary πŸ€πŸ‘πŸŒ️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️
