Royal Dublin Golf Club

Up early, walked over to the terminal, did a quick bag drop then into the lounge for breakfast - very convenient for a short stay at an airport hotel, especially when travelling with golf clubs!!
Good flight - about 3 hrs from Helsinki to Dublin, arrived to some cloud and misty rain. By the time we cleared immigration and got our bags then a shuttle to the car rental place it was time to go back and pick up Julie & Brian.

And so the long awaited golf trip begins 😀⛳️😀⛳️😀⛳️
Headed off towards Royal Dublin Golf Club, encountered a huge traffic jam with thousands of people heading to Croke Park for a huge semi final football match.

Finally arrived and were warmly welcomed by the members. Had a nice lunch then headed to the practice range to swing away a few cob webs. The draw for today’s match was Brian & Jane v. Sean & Julie - matchplay, as well as keeping individual scores along the way.

Teed off at 3pm, over cast skies but no rain. The course was very dry in places. There were some very dark clouds all around the course, but the sun came out over Royal Dublin GC, the jumpers came off and we had a very pleasant game of golf...... at least Brian & I did, we beat Sean & Julie 6/5. Brian (we have nicknamed him Craig), is playing some very nice golf 😀⛳️
The course was flat and had some great holes, being on a small island and very close to the main port there was plenty of shipping activity all around.

Finished our game and headed a couple of km’s down the road to Clontarf Castle where we are staying for a couple of nights.

It was 8pm by the time we checked in, so we decided to have dinner in the hotel. A couple of drinks, some lovely pork belly and lots of laughs later it was time for bed. If the rest of the trip carries on as well as today then we re in for a great ride 😀⛳️😀⛳️😀😴😴😴😴😴
