Portstewart Golf Club

Wow, what a fantastic day we had today. Breakfast at the hotel then off to Coleraine to play Portstewart Golf Course. Only a short drive for 10am tee time.
The British Boys Open is currently being played between Portstewart and Portrush so the course was in fantastic condition.

The weather was overcast but not cold, we did have some occasional drizzle, but we had no heavy rain which was great. It was windy too but we all wore our wet weather gear for the whole round in case of rain, so stayed warm and dry.
The view from the first tee was spectacular, huge dunes and a narrow fairway, ocean to the right - amazing 😉

The front 9 was really tough, I think we all agreed that it was harder than Royal County Down. We all scored poorly on the front, although Julie & Brian were 4 up at the turn.

Sean and I fought back to only 1 down, but eventually lost 3/2. The first 3 pointer was scored by Brian on the 14th, then he & I both had a par on the 16th for 3 points each - and that was it for 3 pointers all day. A good indication of how tough the course was 😀⛳️
No birdies today.

Brian won the best individual for the day, but really it was the golf course that won. It was a very long round, almost 5 1/2 hrs, lots of walking!!
We walked 13.9 km, 24,195 steps and 32 flights today - a mammoth effort 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️
Had a quick drink then headed off on a 3 hour drive to Sligo. Almost had to turn back as Brian couldn’t find his phone. Checked into our hotel then headed straight into town for dinner

Sligo was really lovely, lots of pubs and live music. Sorted out a place to watch the Bledisloe Cup game tomorrow then headed back to our hotel for a well deserved shower and early night 😴😴
Playing Rosses Point - County Sligo tomorrow afternoon.

P.s. from yesterday, I hit driver to the edge of the green on a 97 metre uphill par 3 at Ballycastle........driver!!
