The Island Golf Club

Slept like a log, up early for a wonderful buffet breakfast here in the castle. White & black pudding as well as all the other usual favourites.
We headed off to play The Island Golf Course - absolutely wonderful links course

Again, we were very lucky with the weather, warm & dry, some cloudy periods, perfect for golf ⛳️ The first hole heads up the dunes through a narrow chute fairway, the course was much greener than yesterday, the greens were a bit bumpy in places and much slower than ours are at a RQ. the pro put up the Aussie flag for us which was nice 🇦🇺

Some pictures of the course

Julie & I beat Brian & Sean 6/4 - Julie had a great front 9 with 18 points. She had 2 x birdies today on the 3rd & 16th. I had 18 points on the back 9, including 4 pars in a row on the 11th, 12th, 13th & 14th.

A very scenic course with ocean and estuary views all around. It was challenging with some very narrow fairways, including the narrowest fairway in Europe on the 14th, just 20 metres wide!!

Brian spent a lot of the back 9 climbing sand dunes to look for his ball, he has been renamed Billy (Goat) from all the mountain climbing ⛰🏔🐐🐐
A truly wonderful day was had by all on a really stunning golf course ⛳️⛳️

Headed back to the hotel for a quick shower then drove into town to the Guinness factory for the tour.

Great views from the top floor. Luckily they had me to drive home, although I haven’t driven a manual for over 15 yrs, let alone a 9 seater bus, so we were expecting a few kangaroo hops- but just like riding a bike, you never forget how to drive a manual, easy 😀
Drove into city centre and found a nice pub for dinner. We had the best bangers and mash ever eaten, even had crispy onions on the top. Finished off a great day with a gelato 🍨

I have never laughed so hard or so much as I have today, although the winning comment from Julie was asking if the trees in the park were “insidious” ?? ......... Mmmmmm?

Walked 14.6km or 23,731 steps - big day 😀⛳️😴😴
Tomorrow we are off to play Royal County Down - exciting 😀
